What is 2Mynds MBT?
The mind-body package deal
Your body does not work without your mind and your mind doesn’t work without your body – they’re a package deal. For some reason though, most physical movement disciplines focus on physical aspects only when it comes to training. The mental aspects are often left for the sports psychologist or mental coach.
Conversely, when mental training takes place, the physical aspects and applications of the mental skills in functional environments are often left for the athletes themselves or their sport-specific coaches. This scattered approach separates mental from physical aspects to let the experts do their work and to keep their life simple. We believe making life easy for coaches is is a bad motivation when it comes to athletic development, especially if it leaves the athlete with a sub-optimal environment for development.
The 2Mynds mission
To optimize mind-body integration in athletic development, while actually making life easier for athletes and coaches, we developed 2Mynds – our mind-body development system for mental fitness. 2Mynds uses a systematic approach that progresses learning, training, and applying step by step. It even provides a test module to keep track of progress.
MBT in 2Mynds
The approach used in 2Mynds workouts is a unique form of mind-body training or MBT. The most unique feature of 2Mynds MBT is that mental (mind) and physical (body) components are alternated and progressed with a set methodology to create a combo workout. Of course you could only the physical parts or the mental parts, but combining them and progressing them has special advantages.
2Mynds MBT, although it has physical aspects, is designed for optimal development of mental skills and it is not designed to optimize physical skills. This doesn’t mean that 2Mynds MBT does not have physical benefits, it just means they are a nice side effect of the overall approach to optimize mental fitness.
Why 2Mynds MBT works
The theory is extremely simple and can best be described as follows:
Mental skills are needed most when people are under pressure and in real-life situations. This means that optimal mental training regimens progress to pressure and transition to function – adding more uncertainty, complexity, and applicability and… movement! Movement complexity and movement difficulty are key tools in mental skills development and often neglected or completely overlooked.
2Mynds is for everyone
