For ICL Academy families

Performing under pressure is a skill. Train it early

ICL Academy has partnered with us since 2024 to make mental fitness training as normal as physical fitness training. This program is now open to ICL families directly, at a rate reserved for the ICL community.

What your child actually does

  • Eight minutes, inside training

Mental workouts fit into the cooldown of training your child already does, rather than adding another thing to the week.

  • A curriculum, not a chat

Structured, progressive training built on exercise physiology — the method professional athletes use, at the stage your child is at.

  • It transfers

The skills apply wherever performance is judged in a moment: competition, audition, recital, exam hall. One set of skills, not four.

For parents

Support the performance without adding to the pressure

Most parents of a young performer have felt the gap between wanting to help and knowing how. Our short course for parents is built around the four steps of the CALM approach.

  • C — Check in

Understand where they actually are before responding to where you think they are.

  • A — Arrange

Set up the conditions, rather than managing the performance itself.

  • L — Let them play

Protect the space where performance is intrinsically motivated.

  • M — Mentor

Guide rather than direct — the shift that keeps you useful as they get better.

Why ICL families get a different rate

Because ICL Academy already runs this program with its own students, families across the school community can join at a reduced rate rather than the standard one. The school takes no fee and handles no administration — the arrangement exists so the program is reachable for more of its students.

ICL Academy has used this program for high-school PE credit in the 2025–26 school year with its own school-run cohort. Whether a family place can count toward credit is a question for the school — ask ICL directly.

Questions parents ask

› Why is ICL Academy recommending this?

ICL has partnered with 2Mynds since 2024 to make mental fitness training as normal as physical fitness training for its students. This page exists so families can take up the same program directly, at a rate reserved for the ICL community.

› Is this counselling or mental health treatment?

No. This is performance training — building mental skills the way physical training builds physical ones. It complements counselling and clinical support rather than replacing them, and we are explicit with students about that distinction.

› Does ICL Academy see my child’s results?

Not when you join as a family. Assessment results belong to your child. Where a school runs its own cohort it can see participation and completion for those students, but never individual assessment results unless the student specifically directs it.

› Is it only for athletes?

No. Most students competing at a serious level are in sport, but performing under pressure is the same problem for musicians, dancers, actors, and students facing high-stakes exams. The techniques transfer.

› How much time does it take?

The mental workouts are eight minutes and are designed to integrate into training your child is already doing. The coaching sessions are scheduled around their commitments.

Ask about the ICL rate

Tell us a little about your child and we will come back with the rate and how it works.
